Smoky quartz is a crystal that has a brown or black hue and sometimes can be found in a yellowish colour.  The colour comes from silica and natural irradiation (natural exposure to radiation). The crystal is commonly found in the USA, Brazil, Madagascar, Australia, Switzerland and most famously, Scotland!
