Sunstone comes primarily from India, Canada, Norway, China, United States (in particular Oregon) and Russia. 
 
This orange and red-hued stone has been long associated with the power of the sun. Centuries-old civilizations believed that sunstone was once a part of the sun itself that fell to the earth during a solar eclipse.
 
Ancient Greeks saw it as a symbol of the sun god, and Vikings carried it as a navigation talisman on their sea travels. For many years, it was used for trade and barter, and it has always been linked to fortune and wealth.
